Fortnite Servers Down October 1 for Fortnitemares Update

Fortnite servers went down on October 1 as part of Epic Games' standard two-week update cycle. The downtime enables deployment of the latest seasonal content and follows the established pattern of regular maintenance that players have come to expect.

While Epic Games has not announced an exact restart time, previous updates suggest servers should return online at 6 AM ET/11 AM BST. However, delays are possible if complications arise during deployment. Players are advised to monitor Epic Games' official social media channels for real-time status updates and to download the latest patch before jumping back in.

The October 1 update launches Fortnitemares, the game's annual month-long horror-themed event. Five Nights at Freddy's makes its long-awaited debut in Fortnite, bringing Freddy Fazbear and other animatronics to the Battle Royale island. Key art for the event also revealed appearances from Slenderman, Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street, Obsession, The Purge, and Beetlejuice, with potential for additional collaborators throughout the event's duration.

This marks the penultimate update of Chapter 7 Season 4, which launched last month. A second Fortnitemares update is scheduled for two weeks after October 1, ahead of the transition to Chapter 7's final season in early November.
