Epic Games has officially confirmed the release date and theme for the upcoming seasonal shift in Fortnite. Chapter 7 Season 4, officially titled Override, is set to kick off on Thursday, August 20. This major update follows a period defined by Geno's hacking and centers heavily around gaming legends, introducing a slew of input codes, map adjustments, and massive franchise crossovers.

While the official kick-off has not yet occurred, details regarding redeemable codes have already emerged. Defined as 'Lobby Hacks', these codes are designed to be entered into a window located in the pre-game lobby to distribute one-time rewards. Although the full redemption process has not yet been detailed, more codes and rewards are expected to be made available over the course of the season as players get accustomed to the mechanics.

The gaming-focused theme of Chapter 7 Season 4 paves the way for an expansive lineup of collaborations. Sonic the Hedgehog is among the premier additions, bringing a Green Hills point-of-interest (POI) makeover, an item granting super speed, and official character reveals for Dr. Eggman and Tails—both of whom are set to receive a Sprite alongside Sonic. Shadow was spotted in key art, while leakers have suggested Amy-Rose could also make an appearance.

Other confirmed crossovers include Tetris, which introduces a POI makeover and a throwable item causing falling blocks, alongside a themed skin potentially tied to the Battle Pass. The widely leaked Persona collaboration brings a Joker skin, with Morgana spotted in the key art as a potential Sidekick or Sprite. Pac-Man has also been confirmed through key art appearances alongside the iconic Ghosts. The season's trailer revealed Mega Man as a skin alongside Jonesy utilizing a Mega-Man Mythic weapon, while Sora from Kingdom Hearts appears in the key art with a Keyblade Pick-Axe. Additionally, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are set to feature, with Crash potentially arriving as a skin alongside a new Temple POI, and Spyro anticipated as a Sidekick. Other notable teasers include a Roblox 99 Nights in the Forest collaboration and a background billboard for Cyberpunk 2077.

Alongside these collaborations, the season is expected to feature a new Battle Pass, map shake-ups, and the continuation of the Sprite system introduced earlier in the chapter with a fresh set of Sprites.
