Finalmouse Claims Starlight X Has the Absolute Fastest Click Latency
Finalmouse asserts that its new hybrid mechanical-optical Starlight X mouse features the fastest click latency of any gaming mouse or consumer electronic device tested, outpacing competitors like the Logitech Superstrike and Razer Viper V4 Pro.

Peripheral manufacturer Finalmouse has stated that its upcoming hybrid mechanical-optical Starlight X mouse achieves the absolute fastest click latency of any gaming mouse it has tested. According to the company, the device also delivers the lowest button-input latency measured in a consumer electronic device. Players care about these hardware metrics because input lag directly affects how responsive a mouse feels during competitive gameplay.
At the center of the Starlight X design is a new TMR DS analogue click architecture. Finalmouse compared a pre-production sample of the Starlight X against several competitors, including the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike, the Razer Viper V4 Pro, and the Endgame Gear OP1 8K V2. Based on testing that averaged 50 clicks for each device, the Starlight X registered a total end-to-end latency of 2.0 milliseconds. By comparison, testing measured the Superstrike at 3.0 ms, the OP1 8K V2 at 5.7 ms, and the Viper V4 Pro at 7.5 ms.
Traditional latency measurements typically evaluate the time between a mouse switch electrically closing and the resulting USB packet arriving at the host system. To capture a more complete picture, Finalmouse utilized an XLat tester alongside a custom machine designed to model a human click. By adding copper tape to the surface of the mouse clicker, the testing setup measured the total duration starting from when a user begins pressing the button down until the data packet reaches the system.
The testing data indicates that mice utilizing analogue switches complete clicks faster than those equipped with traditional mechanical switches. However, critics point out that achieving lower click actuation points can be a matter of personal preference, as some users opt for higher actuation levels on adjustable mice rather than the lowest possible setting. Additionally, public commentary on social media has noted that Finalmouse shipping times can be lengthy.
