Final Fantasy XVI is now Steam Deck Verified and Steam Machine Verified by Valve

Valve has officially marked Final Fantasy XVI as both Steam Deck Verified and Steam Machine Verified. The action role-playing title originally launched on Steam in September 2024. Following its initial release, the game was classified as Steam Deck Unsupported because it could not run in an acceptable manner, even when configured to its lowest settings.

The updated verification status from Valve arrives following months of the game being deemed unsupported on the handheld hardware. Despite the new verification badge, questions remain regarding how well the game performs in practice. Critics note that Valve previously marked other titles, such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, as Steam Deck Verified despite delivering a poor experience on the handheld device.

Final Fantasy XVI is currently available across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Further testing across various PC handheld devices and Xbox hardware is expected to evaluate whether Square Enix has addressed prior visual issues.
