Final Fantasy XI Free Trial Removes Time Limit, Raises Level Cap to 75
Square Enix has expanded its Final Fantasy XI free trial with no time limit and increased the level cap from 50 to 75, making the MMORPG more accessible to new and returning players.

Square Enix has rolled out updates to the Final Fantasy XI free trial, removing the previous 14-day time limit and raising the level cap to 75. The changes are now live on PC.
Players can download the updated trial from the Square Enix Store. Existing free trial accounts remain valid under the new terms, even if they previously hit the old 14-day or level 50 restrictions.
Producer and Director Yoji Fujito confirmed the adjustments on September 3, 2026, after the changes were first announced in May 2026. The level cap increase went live first, followed by the removal of the time limit in late September. Fujito also indicated Square Enix plans "a variety of initiatives" to make the trial period more appealing.
The expanded trial coincides with returning campaigns in Vana'diel. The Moogle Support Campaign for New & Returning Adventurers runs until October 12, 2026, alongside More Strange Happenings in Vana'diel. Players can earn the new Travesty weapon, the returning Demonic Axe weapon, Shadow Lord shirt armor, and Shadow Lord statue furnishing during these events.
