Final Fantasy VII Revelation will include a stamina management challenge set in a cold environment, director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed. The mechanic echoes a memorable segment from the 1997 original.

When asked about the "hypothermia minigame" at Tokyo Game Show, Hamaguchi clarified the nature of the returning element. "I wouldn't describe it as a minigame so much, but there is a section of the game where you have to move through a very cold place and kind of manage your stamina," he said via translator, speaking to Shacknews.

In the original Final Fantasy 7, the Great Glacier sequence required players to keep Cloud warm by managing his stamina as he traveled through the freezing area. While Hamaguchi did not specifically name Great Glacier during the interview, he confirmed that this associated mechanic will return in the final chapter of the remake trilogy.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on April 8, 2027.
