Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Pushes Back on Low-Spec Hardware Performance Concerns
Director Naoki Hamaguchi has expressed frustration with fan doubts about how Final Fantasy VII Revelation will perform on lower-end platforms like Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series S, urging players to trust the development team.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi of Final Fantasy VII Revelation has addressed recurring fan concerns about the game's performance on lower-spec hardware, asking players to have confidence in the team's ability to deliver a solid experience across all platforms.
In an interview, Hamaguchi expressed frustration with repeated questions about how the game will run on devices such as Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series S. "Please, just believe us," he said, emphasizing the team's commitment to supporting all announced platforms.
This is the first time the Remake trilogy team has launched a new entry simultaneously across multiple platforms at launch, creating both developer and player uncertainty. The PC version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has required significant tweaks to run smoothly on Windows, fueling some of that skepticism.
However, the development team designed Revelation with weaker hardware as a baseline from earlier in development, which differs from the approach taken with Rebirth. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam on April 8, 2027.
