Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Gamescom Trailer Showcases Iconic Weapons and Spring 2027 Release Window

Square Enix debuted a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation at Gamescom Opening Night Live, offering a closer look at the planetary crisis, massive WEAPON bosses, and open-world features ahead of its Spring 2027 launch.

Square Enix has unveiled a brand-new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 presentation. Presented by director Naoki Hamaguchi, the latest preview—titled “The Planet’s Crisis”—focuses heavily on the colossal guardians known as WEAPONs, which awaken in response to planetary turmoil. The trailer offers a closer look at iconic beasts including Ruby WEAPON, Emerald WEAPON, and Ultima WEAPON, setting the stage for epic confrontations across desert sands, mid-air dogfights, and underwater battlefields.

As the final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, Revelation is scheduled to launch simultaneously in Spring 2027. The game will be available across multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. In addition to showcasing the returning WEAPONs—some of which serve as ultra-challenging endgame battles alongside dedicated narrative components—the trailer highlighted open-world exploration mechanics. Players can traverse the entire planet freely using the airship Highwind, parachute into environments seamlessly, ride Chocobo mounts, and utilize a grappling hook.

The footage also revealed new combat customization features, such as the FITS system, which introduces unique outfits evoking classic Final Fantasy jobs that bestow new abilities on characters like Cloud and Tifa. Additionally, players saw the powerful new Summon Typhon and learned that minigames will be more optional for those sticking to the main path. Fans looking to catch up before the trilogy's conclusion can play Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, both of which feature streamlined progression options. Furthermore, players with save data from the previous titles will unlock special bonus Summon Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, including Chocobo & Moogle and Phoenix.
