Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will require approximately 200GB of storage
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the file size for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 entry will be around 200GB, far exceeding standard disc capacity and forcing players with base PS5 consoles to delete existing games.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will demand approximately 200GB of storage space when it launches on April 8, 2027, according to game director Naoki Hamaguchi in a September 18 interview with VGC.
The massive file size means the game cannot fit on physical discs, even multiple ones. "In a word, yes. Things are still getting worked out, but it's probably going to be around 200GB of game," Hamaguchi said. "I understand there are a lot of opinions about this topic, but at the end of the day, the fact is we need to overcome the hardware to a certain extent."
For PS5 owners with the base console model, which holds approximately 667GB of usable storage, the download represents a significant portion of available space. Many existing games already consume 100GB or more, including The Elder Scrolls Online, Ghost of Yotei, Infinity Nikki, and Mortal Shell 2.
Despite the digital-only nature of the full game, Square Enix remains committed to a physical release in some form. "One thing I want to say is, even though the game will not be on the full disc, in the position we're in, because discs may be dying out, or maybe staying, with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, we definitely wanted to deliver some kind of physical product," Hamaguchi said. The specifics of that physical offering have not been detailed.
Revelation is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The game is expected to take approximately 100 hours to complete, with two post-launch expansions in development.
