The release of the Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail patch 7.56 has introduced extensive details regarding the new Beastmaster limited job, alongside its exclusive duty and dedicated quest lines. Players looking to dive into the role can kick things off after finishing the A Realm Reborn main scenario quest titled “The Ultimate Weapon” and reaching level 50 on any Disciple of War or Magic job. The initial unlocking quest, named “Strangers of the Wood,” is acquired from an Excited Adventurer located in New Gridania at coordinates X:11.8, Y:13.6. In total, the limited job features ten quests, which are also included as part of New Game+ following the update.

Subscribers who take on the Beastmaster role are able to equip Monk and Samurai gear, while Retainers cannot use the equipment. However, the limited job comes with several restrictions: it cannot use Role Actions, enter Duty Roulettes, participate in Deep Dungeons, head into PvP, go on Squadron Missions, or utilize the Hall of the Novice. Furthermore, specific content such as The Bozjan Southern Front, The Forbidden Land Eureka, The Occult Crescent, Stone Sky Sea, Criterion Dungeons, Variant Dungeons, and Ultimate Raids are unavailable for the job. To build out their Master's Bestiary, players use Gauge and Capture mechanics to tame creatures after fighting them, or trade Remnants of Resilience for Kornago Gourds to acquire creatures without combat. Summoned familiars use Instinctual Skills once 100 TP is built up in their gauge.

Additionally, patch 7.56 introduces a new Beastmaster duty titled Crucible of the Unbroken. To unlock it, players must reach level 30 on the limited job and complete a tied job quest at Central Shroud coordinates X:21.9, Y:22.8. This duty involves navigating a board with a team, moving across spaces from happenings to a final boss. Familiars are temporarily benched if their health drops to zero, and the run fails if the player's HP reaches zero. Snarl and Challenge Duty Actions manage aggro targets between the beast and the avatar. Participants can also earn Ephemeral Items like Beast Gear, Crucible Items, and Feed to aid survival, alongside Bright and Faded Remnants of Resilience to trade at the Kornago Merchant for gear enhancements or Kornago Gourds, while participating familiars earn experience to raise their Beast Ranks.
