Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software data for Japan for the week of August 31, 2026, to September 6, 2026. The latest expanded Japanese software sales data highlights top-performing titles across various platforms during the period.

Leading the charts for the week is Onimusha: Way of the Sword on PlayStation 5, which debuted with 76,530 physical sales. The same title also appeared on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, securing third place with 19,499 new sales. Rhythm Heaven Groove for Nintendo Switch took the second spot, bringing its total lifetime physical sales up to 975,289 copies after moving another 29,360 units.

Other notable debuts on the top 30 chart included The Blood of Dawnwalker for PlayStation 5 at 4,618 sales, Orbitals for Nintendo Switch 2 at 3,949 sales, and Cities: Skylines Remastered Japan Special Edition for PlayStation 5 at 3,061 sales. Established titles continued to see steady movement as well. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Nintendo Switch added 9,880 copies to reach a cumulative 1,595,536 units, while Mario Kart World on Nintendo Switch 2 sold 4,259 copies, pushing its overall tracking total past three million units to 3,028,216.

Rounding out the lower tiers of the top 30 list were enduring favorites such as Minecraft, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Splatoon 3, alongside multi-platform releases like Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The weekly data provides a clear snapshot of retail consumer habits and platform preferences across the Japanese market.
