F1 25: 2026 Season Edition Sports Update Adds ‘Macarena Wing’ and Latest F2 Liveries
EA-Codemasters has released a major sports update for F1 25: 2026 Season Edition, introducing the 2026 Formula 2 championship, special car liveries, and the newly added 'Macarena wing'.
EA-Codemasters has released its biggest post-release update for F1 25: 2026 Season Edition, bringing a host of new features, car liveries, and gameplay adjustments to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. Arriving ahead of the inaugural Madrid Grand Prix at the Circuito de Madring, the September Sports Update introduces several heavily requested elements reflecting ongoing real-world developments in the sport.
Among the most prominent additions is the eye-catching 'Macarena wing'. This rotating rear wing device combines with active aero to reduce straight-line drag when operational, mirroring systems used by teams such as Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren during the 2026 season. Ferrari initially debuted the component in preseason testing, with Red Bull and McLaren following suit during subsequent Grand Prix weekends. Alongside this aerodynamic addition, the update rolls out updated car models for eight teams to reflect mid-season sponsor and bodywork changes. Special edition liveries for Racing Bulls, Audi, and Cadillac have also been integrated, with additional drops scheduled through the in-game mailing system.
The update further incorporates the complete 2026 Formula 2 championship, featuring all participating cars and drivers. Selectable F2 liveries include those of championship leader Nikola Tsolov, closest competitor Rafael Câmara, and Invicta Racing teammate Joshua Dürksen. In parallel with the content rollout, developers deployed patch version 1.25 to resolve various stability bugs, adjust wheel user control physics, and address hardware performance issues tied to Moza and Simucube peripherals. Official hardware support has also been expanded to include several Simagic products, including the P500 and P700 Pedals, along with the Neo X Hub and Zeus Formula, GT, and Sport steering wheels.
In celebration of the first-ever Madrid Grand Prix, the game will be hosted as a free-to-play weekend on Xbox and PC from September 10th through September 14th. Players looking to purchase the title can also take advantage of a 30% discount on the Season Edition across all platforms until September 14th, while current owners of the base game can secure a 20% discount on the F1 25: 2026 Season Pack during the same promotional window.
