Expeditions: Samurai Early Access Update Increases Party Size to Six Members

THQ Nordic and Campfire Cabal have released a major update for the historical tactical RPG, expanding party capacity and adding companion dialogue skill checks.

THQ Nordic and Campfire Cabal have released the first major Steam Early Access update for Expeditions: Samurai, the historical-themed tactical RPG set in an alternate early 1600s Japan.

The update expands party capacity from four to six members across ten of the game's levels, with enemy counts increased accordingly to maintain challenge. Companion characters can now participate in dialogue skill checks, adding strategic depth to social encounters. Players gain the ability to carry and move explosive barrels, opening new tactical possibilities in combat scenarios.

Additional improvements include new character creation options, enhanced enemy awareness and alertness, fresh items, and UI upgrades. The full patch notes are available on the game's Steam page.

Expeditions: Samurai is the fourth entry in the Expeditions series, following Conquistador, Viking, and Rome. The game casts players as a privateer crew leader arriving in Japan aboard the Dutch frigate "De Albatros," displacing the historical figure William Adams from his role as Japan's first European Samurai. Players navigate a civil war setting where their choices shape both their crew's fate and Japan's future.
