Exodus Scheduled to Launch in April 2027, Introduces Mech-Suited Octopus Character

Archetype Entertainment has announced that its narrative-heavy sci-fi shooter Exodus will release on April 7, 2027.

Archetype Entertainment has officially revealed that its highly anticipated narrative-heavy sci-fi shooter, Exodus, is scheduled to launch on April 7, 2027. The exact release date was confirmed via a new trailer shown at Gamescom. Developed by a studio helmed by BioWare veterans and published by Wizards of the Coast, the game was initially announced at The Game Awards 2023 with voice work featuring Matthew McConaughey as the main character.

The latest trailer also highlighted a brand new character named Salt, described as an octopus that joins the fight wearing a mech suit. Beyond its unique characters, Exodus features an expansive sci-fi RPG scope with original gameplay mechanics, most notably a time dilation feature inspired by the film Interstellar. The story has been written by veteran video game writer Drew Karpyshin.

Additional details regarding the game's design choice indicate that Exodus will forgo a traditional, wide-open character creator. Instead, the protagonist Jun will feature a more established look aligned with the marketing material, though players will still retain options to adjust features such as hair and tattoos. As development continues under Archetype Entertainment, the title stands out as one of the most unique and anticipated projects on the horizon for sci-fi fans.
