Dungeon Automata Blends Visual Programming With Automatic Dungeon Crawling
Dungeon Automata is a new autologic game featuring visual scripting, handcrafted levels, and a soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro.

Dungeon Automata introduces a distinct twist to the dungeon crawler genre by combining auto battles with logic-based visual scripting. Developed by Medium-Rare Games, the title asks players to control golem behavior through programming rather than direct real-time control. Party members feature various nodes that players can link together to perform specific actions on enemies or other party members. The system includes yes and no statements, allowing adventurers to alter their behavior based on variables like health point levels.
Optimization forms the core of the experience, requiring players to determine the best combination of tools through trial and error. Visual scripting also dictates the directions party members take when navigating the environment. Players must complete all programming before their party heads into the dungeon, as no adjustments can be made once the adventurers step inside. Unlike many entries in the genre, levels are handcrafted rather than randomized, meaning the game functions independently of roguelike elements.
The visual presentation utilizes black and white pixel art. Additionally, the project features a soundtrack composed by music veteran Yuzo Koshiro, who is known for his work on franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Ys, and Shenmue. Players interested in testing out the mechanics can download a playable demo currently available on Steam.
