DragonSword: Awakening Console Ports Begin With PS5, Xbox Lower Priority
Developer Hound13 has detailed upcoming platform plans for DragonSword: Awakening, starting console ports with the PlayStation 5 while keeping Xbox as a lower priority and leaving a potential Nintendo Switch 2 version TBD.
Developer Hound13 has outlined its upcoming platform and device support plans for DragonSword: Awakening, confirming that upcoming console ports will begin with the PlayStation 5. According to the developer, the PS5 was chosen to start the console rollout due to having a larger user base. Meanwhile, an Xbox version has been designated as a lower priority and is not expected to happen in the short term.
Regarding a potential Nintendo Switch 2 release, Hound13 noted that interest has been registered for the platform. However, the timeline remains to be determined (TBD), as bringing the open-world action adventure RPG to the hardware requires securing Nintendo developer status, completing a Unreal Engine 5 port, and passing Lotcheck certification.
The developer also addressed various other platform queries during the recent Q&A session. DragonSword: Awakening, which originally shifted from a free-to-play release model to a buy-once-and-play structure and is currently available on PC via Steam, continues to receive Steam Deck compatibility improvements, including recent cooking cooldown fixes. Steam Cloud save functionality is supported, and Steam Deck touch support is currently under review. Conversely, macOS and Linux support are not currently planned, though Steam Deck is supported via Proton. Additionally, Hound13 confirmed there are no current plans for mobile companion apps or additional controller vibration support, as other development work maintains a higher focus.
