Discord Says It Has Not Yet Been Served With Take-Two’s Grand Theft Auto 6 Subpoena

Take-Two's legal teams are actively seeking the identity of a leaker known as Cyberleek, who released footage of a development build of Grand Theft Auto 6. To track down the individual, the publisher has requested subpoenas directed at both Microsoft and Discord. According to documents obtained by The Verge, Take-Two is asking for identifying information linked to user accounts that communicated within specific Discord servers starting from June 1, 2026, to the present.

The requested data includes account IDs, registration emails, registration and last-login IP addresses, phone numbers, linked connections, device identifiers, and OneDrive content related to GTA, Rockstar, or Cyberleek. Servers named in the scope include the Odyssey server, which has roughly 5,600 members, and content creator DarkViperAU's server, which has over 100,000 members. The broad scope has raised privacy concerns among users regarding their personal accounts.

Addressing these concerns, Discord's marketing director, Ryan K. Rigney, shared an update on X. Rigney stated that Discord has not yet been served with a subpoena from Take-Two, and that the company will evaluate the validity and scope of the order before responding once it is received. As of August 21, the subpoena has been approved by the courts but remains unserved.
