Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4 will not receive any more expansions moving forward. The studio is shifting its primary focus to the newly revealed Diablo 5, which was announced during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony and is slated for a Spring 2029 release.

Diablo game director Brent Gibson stated in an interview with PC Gamer that there are no plans for additional Diablo 4 expansions. Instead, the team is focused on ongoing seasons for Diablo 4 while working toward Diablo 5. Gibson explained that after telling the story of Hatred, which culminated in the Lord of Hatred expansion, the team is moving forward to tell the story of Terror. Diablo 5 is set 100 years after Diablo 4 in a world where the Lord of Terror reigns supreme.

The end of expansions does not mean support for Diablo 4 is ending immediately. Blizzard plans for Diablo 4 seasons to lead into the events of Diablo 5. Gibson noted that the team wants to see how fans react season to season before solidifying the narrative bridge. Prior to launch, Blizzard originally intended to release annual expansions, but Diablo 4 ultimately received two major releases with Vessel of Hatred and the Lord of Hatred expansion in April.

Even without future expansions, Diablo 4 will still receive new content. The Amazon class is scheduled to join the game as a standalone downloadable content package next year. Additionally, Diablo 4 Season 15, titled Hell's Legacy, begins on September 15. This season features the return of Deckard Cain, iconic locations, items, and tasks players with battling memories of Prime Evils.
