Denari Release Date Confirmed for Nintendo Switch and Steam

Developer Astronaut Diaries Limited, in partnership with publisher Ninja Kiwi, has officially announced that its debut title, Denari, will launch on Nintendo Switch and Steam on March 24, 2027. The title is a stylish, cel-shaded isometric action game that places players in the role of Taiu, a young warrior whose developing telekinetic abilities reshape the flow of combat. Set within a vibrant fantasy adventure, Taiu seeks to save his nation from the ruthless magitech-powered Denari empire.

The gameplay centers around turning enemy strengths into resources. Players can redirect enemy fireballs, blast smaller enemies into larger ones, and precisely parry attacks to return damage. According to Shrikkanth Sreedharan, founder and game director at Astronaut Diaries, the game is designed to encourage players to think on their toes and evaluate whether approaching enemies represent threats or opportunities during combat. The increasing difficulty and growth of Taiu's abilities are intertwined with a narrative shaped by hardship, loss, guidance from friends, and the spirits of ancestors.

The production draws from diverse cultural and artistic influences, featuring weapons based on Māori bone carvings and an original soundtrack composed by David Mason with guest vocals by Emi Evans. Mason's previous compositional work includes Dredge and I Am Your Beast, while Evans has contributed vocals to titles such as NieR: Automata and Dark Souls. The soundtrack also incorporates Indian tabla drums, reflecting a narrative inspired by the experiences of indigenous and immigrant children growing up in New Zealand.
