Deadlock's newest hero, the Rat King, brings more than just swarm-based combat to the battlefield. He also brings a surprisingly detailed roster of named subordinates, each referenced in his many voice lines during matches.

According to Shacknews, the Rat King has roughly 100 individual voice lines that call out his subordinates by name. Many of these are simple commands like "[name], go get them," but some offer brief glimpses into the personalities and dynamics of his rodent army.

Among the standout names is Hera, a rat whose namesake suggests a jealous and embittered goddess from Greek mythology. The Rat King's line about what happens when you go against Hera implies she is a formidable opponent, fitting for a "breaker of strategies."

Liv is another subject of interest. While the name alone seems ordinary, the context of the Rat King's callout raises questions. Is she untrustworthy? Has she failed him before? Or is she simply clumsy? Despite any concerns, the Rat King continues to give her chances, showing a benevolent side to his leadership.

The Silver Bullet Crew appears to be one of the slickest groups within the Rat King's arsenal. Whether there are six members, whether they bite like bullets, or whether they wear tiny cowboy hats remains unknown, but they are clearly a crew to be feared.

Some rats, like Gumdrop, seem to enjoy personal relationships. The Rat King's lines suggest that rats can form loving bonds, even engaging in activities like fighting and feasting together. This paints a picture of a community that values connection beyond mere obedience.

2nd Carl stands out as potentially more dangerous than his predecessor, 1st Carl, who is mentioned in other voice lines. The numbering implies a hierarchy or succession, and 2nd Carl seems to have earned his title through merit.

Kathy with a K and Cathy with a C are two rats whose names highlight the importance of spelling. While Kathy sounds tough, Cathy with a C is described as even more dangerous, making her the one players would least want to encounter.

Stabbin' Mike and Bitin' Mike are two rats distinguished by their methods. While biting is common among rats, stabbing requires skill and weaponry. Stabbin' Mike is portrayed as the more dangerous of the two, capable of wielding blades effectively.

Dutch is an old and experienced rat, suggesting longevity and skill. His seniority implies loyalty and wisdom, though he may be growing tired of his duties. The Rat King's lines hint at a rat who has seen many battles and may be ready for retirement.

Rabies Ronnie lives up to his name, implying that any bite from him could transmit disease. The Rat King's warning ensures that players understand the risk of crossing this particular rat.

Valerie is a softer example, showing that the Rat King cares for his subjects' personal lives. He knows she has feelings for Victor, a Frankenstein-like figure, and tries to prevent heartbreak by keeping them apart.

These ten rats represent just a fraction of the Rat King's vast network, but they highlight the depth of character and storytelling embedded in Deadlock's latest update, City Never Sleeps.
