Unicorn Overlord Director Takafumi Noma Announces New Action RPG Dawngazer

Monochrome Corp. and Good Smile Company have announced Dawngazer, an action RPG that serves as the first game in IgniSphere, an entirely new IP. The game is being developed by IgniSphere Studio, led by Takafumi Noma, a Vanillaware veteran best known as the director of Unicorn Overlord.

IgniSphere is described as an expansive fictional universe woven together by numerous nations and races. Monochrome established the IP as part of its 15th anniversary celebration in partnership with Good Smile Company, which is handling publishing and promotion.

Noma worked as a programmer on numerous successful games before directing Unicorn Overlord, where he was involved in every stage of development including story and character design. For IgniSphere, he aims to bring that hands-on approach to building a cohesive, immersive world.

Dawngazer is planned to release in 2028 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The game will support Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese languages.

Yoshimi Kudo is composing music for Dawngazer. Kudo's previous credits include Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring. KOCHO provided vocals and singer coordination for the teaser video's music piece.

The teaser video introducing the IgniSphere world became available following the announcement. An official IgniSphere X account launched on September 25 to share updates about the IP and game development with audiences worldwide. Monochrome stated that IgniSphere will expand across various media beyond games.
