Dancing Wings – The Aerobatic Simulator Launches in Steam Early Access on October 30

CloveTek announced that Dancing Wings – The Aerobatic Simulator will launch in Steam early access on October 30, with an introductory price of $16.14 for the first two weeks. The full early access price is $18.99, and the developer plans to maintain this price at full release.

The sim puts you in command of the Blue Impulse, the aerobatic demonstration team of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, flying the Kawasaki T-4 jet trainer. The game's foundation centers on a distinctive replay system that lets you build aerial exhibitions solo or collaboratively.

The early access version includes Curriculum mode for learning flight fundamentals, Free Flight for open exploration, Overlay mode for building formation flights by layering replays, and Network mode for uploading and sharing performances. You can record up to five aircraft in a single exhibition, with each plane controlled by you, then layer in performances from other players to create asynchronous multiplayer shows.

While not a study-level simulator, Dancing Wings uses realistic aerodynamic modeling for lift, gravity, thrust, and drag. The game recreates terrain around Higashimatsushima city in northeastern Japan, where the real Blue Impulse is based at Matsushima Air Base.

During the three to four month early access phase, CloveTek will add more Curriculum lessons, expand challenge content, include additional background music, improve usability, adjust difficulty, and fix bugs. The developer notes this timeline may shift based on development progress.
