Over 1,000 cut voice lines from Resident Evil 4 and Requiem reveal hidden character details
Community modder Keff0 has uncovered over 1,000 cut voice lines from the Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Requiem, offering new insights into Leon Kennedy, the Merchant, and infected enemies.

Resident Evil games often reward players who pay close attention to notes, recordings, and hidden details. Beyond collectible text items, a great deal of world-building is delivered through throwaway dialogue lines. Recently, community modder Keff0 published two videos showcasing over 1,000 previously unheard and cut voice lines split between the Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Requiem.
The deep dive into the Resident Evil 4 remake features additional dialogue from Leon, Ashley, Luis, and the Merchant. Among the most notable cut lines is a remark from the Merchant referencing Resident Evil Village, where he states, "Ah, I see you're no stranger to villages. The Duke? Lad shows promise." This links to The Duke, who previously made a nod to the RE4 Merchant by quoting his iconic phrase. Furthermore, Keff0 uncovered unused animations for a death scene for the Merchant, suggesting players could have originally been able to kill him during development.
Meanwhile, the cut voice lines from Resident Evil Requiem provide deeper context regarding the infected and the specific strain of the T-virus. While the released game featured infected retaining some memories and crying out for forgiveness, the cut material shows burning zombies begging for water and screaming about the pain. Additionally, a massive enemy known as the Chunk had lines pleading that he did not want to die and complaining about stress, while other infected would thank players for putting them out of their misery.
Leon Kennedy also received additional cut dialogue toward the end of Requiem while suffering from infections and monster fights, including the line, "I promise I'll make it home." According to findings, this reflects a significant shift from his somber demeanor since Resident Evil 2, showing an intent to move on and live away from Raccoon City's shadow rather than undertaking a mission solely to redeem past shortcomings. While space constraints meant these lines could not make the final release, the discovered files offer a glimpse into the development process.
