Creative XF1 speakers deliver room-filling sound in a compact desktop package
Creative's latest active speakers offer strong audio quality and convenient wireless connectivity in a surprisingly small footprint, priced at £180/$180.

Creative's XF1 speakers provide a compelling audio upgrade for PC users who lack desk space for larger speaker systems. Measuring just 10x19cm, they deliver room-filling sound without the bulk of previous generation speakers.
The XF1s feature a minimalist design available in black or white, with softened corners and an inscribed ring around the three-inch woofer. Included cork stands angle the speakers 15 degrees toward the listener and add visual appeal. A single multifunction dial handles mode switching and volume adjustment, with additional controls accessed by flipping the speaker over.
Connectivity options include aux input, Bluetooth 6.0, and USB-C, along with a sub output port for optional subwoofer expansion. There is no eARC or HDMI support, limiting this option to PC-focused setups rather than television-based configurations. High-resolution audio is supported via Bluetooth using LDAC or over USB-C, though practical benefits for PC gaming remain limited.
Audio performance balances the physical constraints of the compact form factor and 72W power output. Treble reproduction through the three-quarter inch tweeters delivers good warmth, while midrange frequencies are detailed without overwhelming other frequencies. Bass remains controlled and present but not aggressive, though the sub out port enables deeper low-end response for music and cinematic gaming moments if desired.
The Creative Nexus app provides a 10-band parametric equalizer with over 120 presets across PC, Android, iOS and macOS platforms. While basic in current form, the app delivers firmware update functionality and straightforward preset selection.
For desktop audio without requiring additional amplification equipment or sacrificing workspace, the Creative XF1 represents a capable entry point. Creative's Pebble Nova offers superior bass and more distinctive design at approximately £200/$240, while Edifier's M60 and MR4.5 provide alternatives at similar price points. Budget-conscious users may consider Creative's T100 speakers at £100/$180, though these lack the latest wireless and high-resolution capabilities.
