A modder has successfully installed the Crazy Taxi Mod into Grand Theft Auto 5, recreating the classic arcade taxi experience within Rockstar's open world. The modification adds a new quest type to Los Santos: point-to-point taxi missions that mirror Crazy Taxi's core gameplay loop.

The mod works by placing yellow circles around the map. Approaching one and pressing H initiates a taxi mission where players select a vehicle and begin transporting passengers. Time limits increase with each successful pickup and dropoff, creating pressure to maintain a rapid pace between fares.

However, the implementation faces practical challenges. The mod's vehicle selection menu suffers from physics issues, causing yellow taxis to jet off the screen or crash into buildings the moment they appear. Players must choose a car quickly before it becomes inaccessible, or the mod teleports them into their selected vehicle regardless of its current location.

Once driving, passengers frequently fail to enter the vehicle due to interference from GTA 5's ongoing systems. Fares get scared off by the gang violence that dominates Los Santos, struck by other cars, or shot by the player's bodyguards. This leaves taxi drivers idling at roadsides, unable to complete their missions.

The modder notes they are working through GTA 5 modifications daily as part of a broader quest to either transform the game into a PC version of GTA 6 or break it entirely. The Crazy Taxi Mod represents one entry in an ongoing series of experimental and chaotic alterations to Rockstar's game.
