Remedy Entertainment head of environment art Miro Vesterinen will present on the world-building of Control Resonant at Pocket Gamer Connects Nordics, taking place October 20th and 21st in Helsinki.

Vesterinen's session, titled 'Environment Art and World-Building of Control Resonant', runs on the Big Screen Gaming track on day one. The presentation explores how Control Resonant brings the paranatural world of Control to the streets of Manhattan, building a fictionalised, visually twisted open world. It examines how location identity is defined and how different factions shape their environments.

The session covers both creative and technical ground. The first half focuses on the creative foundations of world-building, including practical examples of how environments communicate faction identity and location character. The second half shifts to production methods, exploring procedurally assisted world-building. Vesterinen will discuss approaches for combining handcrafted environments with procedural generation to populate large environments efficiently, covering modular asset design, rule-based placement systems, procedural variation and content creation, and methods for maintaining visual cohesion through reuse.

PGC Nordics, now in its 13th edition, brings together over 1,500 professionals from 50+ countries. The event runs at Wanha Satama and includes the AI Gamechangers Summit and Beyond Games: Transmedia Summit alongside the main conference.
