Cold Iron Studios Lays Off Staff But Commits to Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 Support
Cold Iron Studios has announced layoffs and team restructuring while reaffirming its dedication to supporting Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. The studio plans to share a roadmap in the coming weeks and continues development on the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Cold Iron Studios has confirmed staff layoffs and adjustments to team responsibilities, citing ongoing development and support needs for its titles. An undisclosed number of employees were affected by the reduction.
In a statement, the studio said: "We have had to make a difficult decision to reduce staffing and adjust team responsibilities around our ongoing development and support needs. Earlier today, we said goodbye to some of our colleagues and friends. We are grateful for their contributions to the studio and our games, and we are doing what we can to help them during this transition."
Despite the layoffs, Cold Iron Studios emphasized its continued commitment to Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. The team is focused on near-term quality improvements and long-term support for the game, which launched for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in August 2026.
The studio said it plans to share a roadmap for upcoming updates in the coming weeks. Development on the Nintendo Switch 2 version remains on track for an early 2027 release.
