Code Vein II Details Mask of Idris Expansion and Free Version 2.0 Update

Publisher Bandai Namco and developers have shared a comprehensive ten-minute developer message video hosted by Director Hiroshi Yoshimura and Producer Keita Iizuka. The broadcast offers deeper insight into the content arriving with the upcoming Mask of Idris expansion and the accompanying free version 2.0 update for the action RPG Code Vein II. Both the expansion and the update are scheduled to launch next week on September 9, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

The Mask of Idris expansion plunges players into an alternate realm known as the "Forsaken World," which is generated by the converged pathos of vanished worlds and threatened by an expanding Temporal Rift. Set after the events of the main game, accessing the new narrative requires players to reach the "Luna Fraterna" ending and progress through the "Discussion with Valentin: MagMell Island Tome" quest. Throughout this journey, players will fight alongside new partner characters, including Valentin’s sister Liv Voda—the original guardian of the Temporal Rift—and a new form of Lou. The expansion introduces fresh areas, foes, weapons, Formae, Jails, and abilities. Upon completing the story, players unlock additional color variations for partner characters to use anywhere in the game or in a new game.

Releasing simultaneously for all players regardless of DLC ownership, the free version 2.0 update brings a wide variety of gameplay enhancements and new features. The "Age of Harmony" allows players to explore the world post-game alongside their partners, experiencing small new epilogue episodes for each character. Meanwhile, the "Trials of Remembrance" feature introduces consecutive multi-stage boss rematches that grant rewards exchangeable for over 90 new character customization pieces. Additionally, Jadwiga becomes fully summonable as a partner, a new "Story-Focused" difficulty mode is added, and a "Legacy" character shader option makes characters appear closer to the anime-like style of the first Code Vein. The update also implements photo mode improvements and a jukebox.
