Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DLC Honors Medal of Honor Recipient Kyle Carpenter

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature day-one downloadable content focusing on a real-life military hero, with proceeds supporting charity. The Call of Duty Endowment Valor Pack launches on October 23 alongside the game and adds real-life Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter as a playable character.

Carpenter served in Marjah, Afghanistan, where on November 21, 2010, he protected a fellow Marine, Nick Eufrazio, by throwing himself in front of a grenade. The blast caused severe injuries, leaving Carpenter unconscious for five weeks, stripping the teeth from his mouth, and causing him to lose an eye, alongside numerous other life-threatening wounds. He was later presented with the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama in 2014.

Proceeds from the Valor Pack will benefit the Call of Duty Endowment, an Activision charity dedicated to supporting military veterans and helping former soldiers find employment. Previous downloadable content packs for the franchise have also supported the endowment, such as a pack for Black Ops 7 that featured real-life soldier and NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23. A pre-order beta is currently underway, followed by an open beta scheduled to run from August 28 through September 1 for all players.
