Classic SNES RPG Terranigma Headed to PC Over Three Decades After Original Launch
Quintet's 1995 SNES action-RPG Terranigma is finally making its way to PC via a collaboration between Clear River Games Development and Limited Run.
More than three decades after its initial release, the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System action-RPG Terranigma is officially coming to PC. Developed by Quintet in 1995, the title is receiving a modern PC re-release through a collaborative effort between Clear River Games Development and Limited Run.
Set on a hollow planet divided between the outer Lightside and the internal Darkside, Terranigma follows a mischievous Darkside youth named Ark who accidentally opens a forbidden door. The original game featured character designs by manga artist Kamui Fujiwara, mode 7 aviation segments, and a real-time combat system focused on spear-wielding action. According to its digital store pages, Quintet's 1990s catalog was known for a distinct melancholy and themes of creation and destruction, with Terranigma frequently cited as their magnum opus.
The upcoming PC version is slated for launch on both Steam and GOG. Clear River Games Development is a division of Clear River Games AB, a Swedish publisher owned by Embracer and THQ Nordic that was founded in 2019 and is known for retro projects, ports, and re-releases including System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story. Fans looking forward to experiencing the retro action-RPG on modern hardware will have to wait a little longer, as there is currently no release date confirmed beyond an early 2027 window.
