Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Brings Mumbai to Campaign, Sparks Antilia Speculation

Footage from Modern Warfare 4 shows a building in Mumbai that resembles Mukesh Ambani's Antilia residence, though Activision has not confirmed the structure's identity. The game will feature SAS night raids in the Indian city when it launches in October.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will take players to Mumbai as part of its globe-spanning campaign, and early footage has sparked speculation about whether one recognisable structure in the city made it into Infinity Ward's latest military shooter.

A building visible in Modern Warfare 4 campaign footage bears a striking resemblance to Antilia, the distinctive South Mumbai residence of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani. However, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward has officially identified the structure as Antilia or confirmed whether it was deliberately recreated for the game.

Activision has confirmed that Mumbai is an official campaign location, with the operation featuring "SAS night raids in Mumbai" as part of the story involving Captain Price and an emerging conflict on the Korean Peninsula. The city joins New York, Paris, Korea and other locations in the game's international setting.

The potential Antilia reference makes visual sense for game design purposes. Mumbai lacks a single globally dominant landmark like Paris's Eiffel Tower or New York's Statue of Liberty, so distinctive architecture helps establish location identity within seconds of gameplay. Antilia's unusual stacked design and prominence in South Mumbai's skyline make it visually recognisable to international audiences familiar with the city's wealth concentration and changing urban landscape.

Game developers frequently modify real architecture, combine multiple references or construct fictional buildings inspired by recognisable landmarks. Until the full Mumbai mission becomes playable, the building should be treated as a possible recreation or inspiration rather than confirmed representation of the Ambani residence.

This would not be gaming's first Mumbai-inspired use of similar architecture. IO Interactive's Hitman 2 featured a fictionalised Mumbai mission with Rangan Tower, a structure that has drawn player comparisons to Antilia due to its towering form and contrast with dense neighbourhoods below. That example demonstrates how developers borrow visual language from cities without necessarily reproducing identifiable private properties directly.

Modern Warfare 4 represents a significant opportunity for Indian players. Call of Duty remains one of the world's biggest entertainment franchises, and placing Mumbai inside a major campaign operation is comparatively uncommon for AAA military shooters. Whether Infinity Ward captures the city's architectural complexity, extreme density and rapidly changing skyline will become clearer once the full mission is revealed.

Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, with Campaign Early Access starting October 16 for eligible digital pre-orders. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
