Call of Duty publisher releases guide and tool for PC security requirements ahead of Modern Warfare 4 beta

Ahead of the first weekend of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta, Activision's Ricochet anti-cheat team has published a detailed guide and a video walkthrough to help PC players enable necessary security features. While Windows TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements have existed in the franchise for a couple of years, restrictions are being tightened for Modern Warfare 4 compared to Black Ops 7 and current versions of Warzone.

Previously, players who did not meet these security requirements were restricted from certain game modes like Ranked Play, placed in separate matchmaking pools, or barred from specific playlists. However, requirements for the Modern Warfare 4 beta are stricter, with players who fail to meet them being restricted from playing any online game mode entirely.

To assist players, the developer released a video complete with UEFI and BIOS walkthroughs for both AMD and Intel systems, detailing what different platforms call TPM. Additionally, players can download the updated Call of Duty Secure Attestation Wizard app on PC to test whether their system meets the necessary security standards.

Secure Boot is a low-level system feature that loads during startup to allow anti-cheat software deeper access and prevent cheats from running, while TPM 2.0 adds a hardware-based layer of protection to detect boot process tampering. These requirements have become increasingly common across competitive PC shooters, including titles like Valorant and Battlefield 6.
