Buying COD: MW4 On Xbox Comes With A Special Perk Not Available On Other Console Platforms
Microsoft is offering a $5 digital credit for preordering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on the Microsoft Store for Xbox or PC, alongside a multi-platform loyalty discount.
Microsoft is encouraging players to purchase the Xbox edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 by providing a special perk that is unavailable on other console systems. Customers who preorder any edition of MW4 on a Microsoft Store, which includes both Xbox and PC, will receive a $5 digital credit back. For PC purchasers, a pop-up notification from the Xbox app will arrive within 35 days of the game's October 23 launch delivering the Xbox gift card, while a similar notification will also appear on Xbox systems.
According to the fine print, the promotional gift credit must be redeemed by December 15, 2026, and utilized within 90 days following redemption. While this $5 credit remains exclusive to Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on PC, Microsoft and Activision are also bringing back a "loyalty discount" for the $100 Vault Edition of the game across all platforms.
To qualify for a 10% discount on the MW4 Vault Edition—which reduces the price to $90—players must meet specific requirements. Eligibility is granted if users own and have played any edition of several qualifying previous titles, or if they claimed and played those games through PlayStation Plus. Furthermore, existing Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC subscribers qualify if they have played one of the listed titles. The fine print emphasizes that the loyalty discount is restricted to preorders made on the identical platform account where the qualifying title was owned and played.
MW4 marks the first Call of Duty release since 2013 to bypass the PS4 and Xbox One generations, meaning players who experienced qualifying games on older hardware can still claim the loyalty discount. The franchise is also returning to a Nintendo platform for the first time since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts with a release on the Switch 2, though Switch 2 owners seemingly cannot access the loyalty discount since none of the qualifying games launched on a Nintendo platform. Additional details are available on Activision's support site.
