According to a translated report by Chosun, Nexon is pushing to acquire content development rights for the real-time strategy franchise, with a senior industry official cited as stating that a contract is on the verge of being finalized. The report notes that such an agreement could grant Nexon development rights for a sequel to StarCraft 2, potentially paving the way for a future StarCraft 3.

However, these claims are accompanied by conflicting details from other outlets. Newsis, another Korean media outlet, reported that while Nexon and Blizzard are indeed discussing a contract covering StarCraft development and services, talks are still at an early stage. According to Newsis, no agreement has been signed at this time, and specific details such as the genre and the division of development work remain undecided.
