Big Walk Review: A Cooperative Adventure

Big Walk is a cooperative game that encourages players to work together, communicate, and explore a vibrant world filled with puzzles, physics, and secrets.

Big Walk, developed by House House, is a cooperative adventure game that requires players to work together to progress through the game. The game features a variety of activities, including puzzles, physics, basketball, and music, as well as secrets and foreboding premonitions of future discoveries.

The game is designed for co-op play, with puzzles adjusting to lobby size, from two to three, to four-plus players. Players can have up to 12 players in a lobby, but puzzles will still be sized for four players. The game encourages players to use proximity voice chat in-game, rather than hopping on a Discord call or playing local split-screen.

Each player gets their own orbish, bird-like in-game avatar, which can be customized with tools littered in the tutorial area. Players can gesture with their arms, such as lifting them up in the sky, pointing, or raising them out to the side. The game also features a variety of equipment, including walkie-talkies, radios, and whiteboards, which can be used for long-distance communication.

The game's design leads to downtime, which facilitates some of Big Walk's best moments. Stumbling across a new puzzle room or gadget leads to hijinks, and players must work together to overcome challenges.
