BeamNG.drive, the long-running Early Access driving sandbox, is coming to PlayStation 5 on October 19, 2026. The PS5 release will arrive simultaneously with version 0.40 on PC, marking the game's first console debut after 11 years of development on Windows.

The PS5 version will run on BeamNG's existing engine and include all modes, cars, and scenarios from the PC release. Players will have access to 12 open-world environments, Career Mode, Rally Mode, and the full range of Scenarios. The soft-body physics engine that simulates real-time vehicle deformation and damage will carry over unchanged. Local split-screen support has been confirmed for the PS5 release, though full details on its scope remain unclear.

Version 0.40 introduces several enhancements for the console launch. The base PS5 will gain FSR 3 upscaling support, while PS5 Pro owners will have access to PSSR upscaling. The update also adds a new vehicle and various visual improvements. Online multiplayer will not be available in version 0.40 but is planned for future updates on both platforms.

One significant limitation at launch is the absence of mod support. An official statement from BeamNG explained: "In general, BeamNG aims to achieve feature parity across platforms where possible. Mod support for PlayStation will not be available at launch: supporting mods on console is a unique challenge, and while the possibilities are being explored, the timing and scope cannot be confirmed at this stage. Mod authoring tools, such as the World Editor, are not currently planned for PlayStation."

The developer has not ruled out console moderation in future updates. Games including Farming Simulator, SnowRunner, and Project Motor Racing have demonstrated that console mods are feasible through curated marketplaces. BeamNG already operates a proprietary Mod Repository system on PC, which could serve as a foundation for a console version. However, cross-compatibility with Automation – The Car Company Tycoon Game will not be possible, as that game is not currently available on PS5.

BeamNG.drive will release as an Early Access title on PlayStation 5, following Sony's approval of other Early Access games like Path of Exile 2 and Phasmophobia. The PS5 and PC versions will receive updates near-simultaneously going forward. The game's price has not yet been announced.
