Baldur's Gate 3 Act Two Expansion Mod Adds Massive New Region With 70+ Items and 30 Combat Encounters
Modder SquallyDaBeanz has released a free fan expansion for Baldur's Gate 3's second act, introducing the Chionthar Wilds region with new quests, dungeons, NPCs, and over 70 items. The mod works with existing saves and supports multiplayer.

Baldur's Gate 3 has received a substantial fan-made expansion for Act Two. Modder SquallyDaBeanz released the Act Two Expansion, adding a large new region called the Chionthar Wilds that slots between the Shadow-Cursed Lands and Baldur's Gate itself.
The Chionthar Wilds is designed for level 8-10 parties and emphasizes exploration and combat. The expansion includes new quests, dungeons, NPCs, cutscenes, stories, lore, puzzles, secrets, and custom creatures. It adds more than 70 new items and features over 30 combat encounters with new dialog and story choices throughout.
Players can integrate the mod into existing saves, with the main version inserting the new region between Acts 2 and 3. A QuickStart version starts a fresh game directly in the expansion, providing starting gear, party XP, and hirelings for immediate play. The mod also supports multiplayer if all players have the same files installed.
The expansion is currently in beta and may contain bugs. The modder recommends saving frequently to prevent game-breaking issues. Camp events can occasionally cause softlocks at the finale, so players should complete them before starting the ending sequence. The mod assumes the Shadow Curse has been lifted in Act 2, and story choices do not affect Act 3 progression.
XP rewards are scaled down, with a full clear yielding approximately 30,000 XP. A point of no return exists before Act 3, after which players cannot return to the Shadow-Cursed Lands or the Chionthar Wilds.
Version 1.0 is planned to include improved writing, expanded dialog, new lore, enhanced combat and boss encounters, additional Legendary Actions, item balance adjustments, bug fixes, and overall polish.
