Assetto Corsa Rally V0.6 Update Explains Mod Crashes and Unreal Engine 5.6 Upgrade
Supernova Games Studios has explained that Assetto Corsa Rally's V0.6 update upgraded the game to Unreal Engine 5.6, causing crashes for players using unofficial mods.

Supernova Games Studios has addressed community complaints regarding game crashes following the release of the V0.6 update for Assetto Corsa Rally. Many players reported experiencing crashes after updating to the latest build. The developer pinned these stability issues primarily on the presence of unofficial modifications rather than intentional anti-modding measures or digital rights management.
Although Assetto Corsa Rally does not officially support full modding yet, players have utilized tools like UnrealPak, FModel, and FMOD Bank Tools to add custom co-drivers and liveries. However, V0.6 introduced a major underlying technology change by upgrading the game from Unreal Engine 5.4 to Unreal Engine 5.6. According to the developer, internal archive formats are tied to specific engine versions, meaning older mods appear malformed to the new executable and trigger crashes during load sequences.
Supernova Games Studios stated that the engine upgrade was implemented to deliver optimized graphics and CPU performance. In addition to the engine transition, the V0.6 patch introduced new cars, a photo mode, and an official custom livery system, which serves as the first step toward official modding support. Players encountering crashes are urged to remove unofficial mods, while creators must repack their assets against the current 0.6 build to restore compatibility.
