Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Debuts in Top 5 Revenue Charts

Remakes and rereleases dominated gaming revenue in July, with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced debuting as the first remake in the Assassin's Creed franchise. According to Newzoo's market analysis, Black Flag Resynced ranked second on PC and fourth on console revenue charts for the month.

Newzoo market analyst Mert Şahin noted that the remake's performance "demonstrates the commercial potential that can remain with established titles." He explained that "remakes can combine familiarity with meaningful updates, appealing to existing fans while making older experiences more accessible to new audiences." Year-to-date, Black Flag Resynced ranked ninth on Newzoo's Top 20 new games by revenue.

July's revenue charts reflected broader trends in how publishers manage legacy titles. Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2, which were shadow-dropped on PlayStation 4 and 5, reached sixth and first place respectively in console revenue—demonstrating that straightforward ports can also generate significant commercial momentum alongside more substantial remakes.

Other notable performers included Palworld, which left early access and entered the PC revenue chart in fifth place. As a single-purchase title without microtransactions or paid DLC, most of its revenue came from new players. Palworld 1.0 also ranked nineteenth on the year-to-date new games list.

"July's PC and console rankings show how publishers can create fresh momentum around established games and franchises," Şahin said, citing timely in-game events and lifecycle transitions as key drivers of renewed commercial opportunities.
