Apparent GTA 6 leak linked to crypto scam and digital rights manifesto

An online group operating under the name Cyberleek has claimed responsibility for an apparent Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay and map leak. Rather than serving as a standard leak, the publicity is being used to promote a meme coin on the Solana crypto platform, accompanied by assurances that the effort is not a cash grab.

Alongside the promotional material, the group published a lengthy manifesto referred to as the "CYBERLEEK Edict." The document details three primary commandments focused on digital rights: ending digital pre-orders, eliminating baked-in downloadable content that requires additional purchases, and guaranteeing offline-playable versions for any single-player content included in online games. The manifesto explicitly references Ubisoft's discontinued racing game, The Crew, as an example of why video game preservation is necessary.

The manifesto also calls on gamers to purchase the group's cryptocurrency to fund a secret project designed to fight corporate practices. According to the text, specific details regarding the project cannot be revealed to prevent large corporations from building defenses. Map images circulating online in connection with the leak feature distinct calls to action directing users to buy the coin.

The manifesto further warns major publishers, threatening potential targeting if rules are broken and demanding public statements, apologies, and concrete commitments to reform. Meanwhile, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two, has already begun issuing Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedowns across the internet in response to the newly circulating leaked materials.
