Android XR Bridge Lets PC VR Players Run Meta Quest Exclusives in 4K

An experimental tool called Android XR Bridge enables PC gamers to play Quest-exclusive titles like Batman: Arkham Shadow and Deadpool VR on their own hardware, rendering at 4K per eye and up to 120 FPS.

Meta Quest exclusives are becoming playable on PC VR through Android XR Bridge, an experimental software runtime developed by Feli Reintgen. The tool allows Windows users to run Android-based VR applications designed for Meta Quest on their PCs while leveraging their hardware's full power.

Android XR Bridge works by removing hardware restrictions and running games through OpenXR. Players can access titles including Batman: Arkham Shadow, Deadpool VR, Asgard's Wrath 2, and Pinball FX VR. A key advantage is the ability to render at 4K per eye and 120 FPS, performance levels impossible on Quest hardware itself. Recent demonstrations showed Pinball FX VR running at these specs, with latency limited only by network conditions.

The tool requires legal copies of Quest games to function. AXRB's Early Access launch, originally scheduled for September 21, has been delayed due to installer issues, emulator launch failures, and limited game compatibility. The developer noted that many untested games currently fail to run reliably.

Despite these challenges, Android XR Bridge represents a significant possibility for PC VR users. If development continues, the tool could open Meta's Quest exclusive library to a broader audience without requiring modifications to the original Android builds.
