NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain announced Ananta's release date during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live on August 25, alongside a new trailer. The free-to-play open-world RPG launches worldwide on January 15, 2027, on PlayStation 5, PC through Steam and a standalone launcher, iOS, and Android. The exact launch time has not been announced, though NetEase typically shares regional unlock times in the final weeks before release.
The January launch arrives approximately two months after Grand Theft Auto 6's November 19 release, positioning the two games in separate release windows. No Xbox version of Ananta has been announced.
Players have described Ananta as "anime GTA" based on its large city setting, driving mechanics, police system, and open-world activities. The game takes place across two cities, with Nova City covering an area roughly the size of Manhattan. Players assume the role of Captain, a member of the struggling Anomaly Control Department, rebuilding the agency and searching for a missing father through bounties, social media growth, and reputation increases. Supernatural events called "Chaos" disrupt everyday life.
Ananta offers movement without stamina limits, allowing free parkour, grappling, swinging, and driving. Naked Rain reports the game will feature over 100 hours of content at launch and plans to support it for at least seven years. The game is single-player only, with no co-op announced despite player inquiries. PlayStation Store listing indicates an internet connection is required.
The free-to-play model excludes character gacha systems. Playable characters unlock through gameplay. Monetization is limited to cosmetics including outfits, custom vehicles, and player housing. The Steam page lists in-game purchases, including random items through chance-based draws, though prices have not been announced.
Pre-registration is open on the official website and store pages. The game has reached 17 million pre-registrations across 110 countries and regions. Pre-registration does not grant early access but unlocks in-game rewards when community milestones are achieved. A global open beta has not been confirmed. A closed beta ran in early 2026, after which NetEase CEO Ding Lei stated player feedback met expectations and development remained on schedule.
PC system requirements have been listed on Steam. iOS requires version 12.0 or later. Full Android requirements have not been announced.
