ANANTA Launches Worldwide on January 15, 2027, for PlayStation 5, PC, and Mobile

Developer Naked Rain and publisher NetEase Games have officially announced that their upcoming free-to-play urban open-world RPG, Ananta, will launch worldwide on January 15, 2027. The release date was revealed alongside a new trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live, which also showcased the game's second major city, Chongxiao. Originally unveiled under the working title Project Mugen back in August 2023, the title has undergone several internal overhauls ahead of its upcoming arrival on PlayStation 5, PC via Steam and standalone client, and mobile platforms.

Ahead of its early 2027 launch, Ananta has already accumulated over 17 million global pre-registrations from players across 110 countries and regions. Set in a modern world governed by algorithms and online culture, the game's core premise revolves around social influence and content creation. Players step into the shoes of an influencer to build a reputation, grow social influence, and unlock unique perks. Interviews from the Tokyo Game Show indicate that the developers have confirmed the game will not feature a character gacha system, with monetization suspected to focus instead on optional cosmetics.

Gameplay features dynamic martial arts combat, allowing players to use interactive surroundings and everyday objects as weapons while switching between a diverse cast of agents to rebuild the A.C.D. team. Inspired by real-world metropolises like Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Tokyo, the game's environments let players explore modern settings, travel via various vehicles, and experience multiple roles such as hackers, NCCA officers, and delivery riders. While character gacha mechanics are absent, players can still recruit more than 100 NPCs with individual stories, quests, and exclusive items.
