Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection Announced for Multiple Platforms

Commodore International and developer Antstream, working in cooperation with Team17, have announced the upcoming release of the Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection. Revealed during the Pixel Arcadia showcase, the compilation brings together six classic titles from the franchise's first era, optimized for modern gaming devices. This release also marks a notable milestone as the first title to be announced by Commodore as a publisher in its new era following its resurrection by Christian Simpson.

The comprehensive package includes six historical games from the series: Alien Breed (1991), Alien Breed Special Edition '92 (1992), Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues (1993), Alien Breed: Tower Assault (1994), Alien Breed 3D (1995), and Alien Breed 3D II: The Killing Grounds (1996). Alongside the core library, the collection introduces several modern features and enhancements, including Dual Stick and Mouse & Keyboard controls, local co-op, an online co-op "Rush" mode, and a new Horde mode. Players will also benefit from quality-of-life additions such as screen filters, save states, and controller rumble support.

In addition to the games themselves, the collection features a 'Virtual Museum' packed with developer retrospectives, art galleries, soundtracks, timeline videos, a digital comic, and information regarding never-before-seen cancelled games. The compilation is scheduled to launch across multiple modern platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. Nintendo Switch players can expect the release as early as September, while broader platform availability spans across the mentioned storefronts and consoles.
