A surge of farming simulation games launching in 2026 presents players with an overwhelming choice problem. PC Gamer identified 39 farm sims still planned for release this year, a number compiled manually from Steam's upcoming games section since the platform lacks release-date filtering.

The publication highlighted the time commitment required to play even a fraction of these titles. A hypothetical player with 2 hours available on weeknights and 4 hours on weekends has roughly 234 hours to spend across the year, assuming holidays are factored in.

Several games exemplify the variety within the genre. Nivalis Nights demands the largest time investment at 500 hours, while Dragon Shelter, Grave Seasons, and Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea are estimated at 20 hours each. Songs of Glimmerwick requires 40 hours, and Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea is projected at 20 minutes.

The count carries caveats. Steam's sorting limitations mean the 39-game figure is a manual count prone to error, and release dates remain subject to delay. Still, the sheer volume underscores how thoroughly the farming sim genre has saturated the indie development landscape, leaving players to choose which harvests to tend.
