18-Minute Gameplay Trailer Released for SILENT HILL: Townfall

An extensive 18-minute gameplay trailer has been released for Silent Hill: Townfall, offering a deep dive into the upcoming first-person psychological horror project. Published by Konami and developed by Screen Burn (also referred to as Screen Burn Interactive), the new footage showcases the title's atmospheric setting, tense evasion, and mechanics ahead of its scheduled September 24 launch on PC and PlayStation 5.

The newly revealed gameplay footage takes players directly into the foggy fictional Scottish town of St. Amelia, specifically within the Shorefront region. Set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland in 1996, the narrative follows protagonist Simon Ordell (also noted as Simon), who has been called back to the island to make things right. Experienced entirely from a first-person perspective, Simon must navigate houses and apartments while dealing with tense evasion and frenetic combat using a limited set of weapons and tools.

Among the highlighted tools is the CRTV, a pocket television device that players can tune to unstable signals to spot enemies and dangers lurking in the fog. The gameplay footage also details familiar design elements, such as narrative-driven puzzles involving environmental challenges like finding lock codes, as well as searching chests and drawers for resources. Developers chose first-person horror for the project to emphasize that what happens off-screen can often be scarier than what is directly in front of the player.

Additional details surrounding the self-contained horror title reveal that Silent Hill: Townfall features five different endings. While three can be experienced during an initial playthrough, two secret endings are reserved for New Game+. With the game's release date set for September 24, players can look forward to diving into the frightening Scottish island just ahead of the autumn season.
