Xbox Reportedly Pitching Multiple Game Adaptations to Hollywood in a 'Bulk Studio Deal'

A new report indicates that Xbox is pitching a massive package of over a dozen game adaptations to Hollywood studios, with franchises like Halo, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls, and Diablo reportedly involved.

According to a report from Puck, Microsoft’s Xbox division is reportedly looking to lean heavily back into television and movie adaptations by quietly pitching Hollywood studios on a pricey package containing more than a dozen games. Sources indicate that major franchises such as Halo, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls, and Diablo are all involved in these multi-property pitches.

Major entertainment companies including Netflix, Paramount, and Universal have reportedly examined the extensive package, though it remains unconfirmed whether these studios have any actual interest in picking up the projects, and Puck noted that comments could not be obtained from them at the time of the report. This follows previous discussions from Xbox leadership expressing a strong desire to lean even further into their major intellectual properties moving forward. Additionally, projects like Gears of War and Sea of Thieves have previously been reported as having future film or television treatments in development.

While Xbox could potentially dominate both the big and small screens across a variety of projects in the coming years, how this bulk studio deal will ultimately shape up and whether it will achieve long-term success remains to be seen as discussions develop.
