Xbox players may finally have an equivalent to PlayStation's Platinum Trophy system. The company is developing Mythic Achievements, a feature designed to reward players who obtain every achievement in a single game, mirroring the recognition system PlayStation has offered for over 18 years.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that Platinum-equivalent achievements are coming to the platform in 2026. While Microsoft has not made an official announcement, the feature appears to be in testing. Raymond Cox, known online as Stallion83 and recognized as the world's first Gamerscore Millionaire, posted evidence on X on September 19 showing a new achievement category on his Xbox console, suggesting the system might be called Mythic Achievement.
Cox reached one million Gamerscore on March 13, 2014, and two million on November 21, 2018, earning a Guinness World Record. His post indicates the feature could be close to rolling out across the platform.
Details about how Mythic Achievements will function remain unclear. It is unknown whether they will retroactively trigger for players who have already achieved 100% completion on Xbox games, or if players will need to manually activate them within each game. Microsoft has not confirmed whether the company plans to attach rewards or bonus schemes to players who accumulate a certain number of Mythic Achievements.
Gears of War: E-Day, releasing soon, could potentially be among the first games to feature Mythic Achievements. The timing has led some to speculate the system could launch as a surprise rollout rather than a formal announcement.
The addition addresses a long-standing gap in Xbox's achievement system. While Xbox has tracked Gamerscore since the platform's inception, it has lacked a unified way to recognize and celebrate complete game mastery the way PlayStation's trophy system does. The delay in introducing such a feature has been a point of discussion among Xbox players for years.
