Xbox Adds New Dynamic Background Ahead of Stalker 2 DLC Release

Microsoft has expanded its ongoing library of dynamic backgrounds for Xbox Series X|S consoles with a brand new visual theme from developer GSC Game World. The addition arrives ahead of the upcoming release of Stalker 2's first major downloadable content expansion, titled Cost of Hope.

The expansion is scheduled to launch on Xbox platforms on August 20, 2026. Alongside the new content and dynamic background, the release is set to coincide with a massive 2.0 Unreal Engine 5 update. This upcoming patch will introduce two new regions to the game, offering players additional regions filled with the horrors and mysteries of the Zone to encounter.
