The first-ever World Star Challenger Invitational (WSCI) reaches its conclusion this week, crowning the inaugural tier-two League of Legends world champion on Friday, October 2nd. The tournament features the top academy and challenger teams from across the globe, with the semifinals setting up two France versus Korea matchups.

Solary emerged as the tournament favourite after maintaining an impressive record through the group stage and quarterfinals. The EMEA Masters Winter champions lost just one of nine WSCI matches, defeating Movistar KOI Fénix 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Notably, Solary beat reigning LFL and EMEA Masters champions Galions twice during the group stage, a result that has made them favourites among Polymarket users despite Galions' own dominant quarterfinal showing. Galions swept KT Rolster Challengers 3-0 to secure their semifinal spot.

On Korea's side, T1 Academy and DN SOOPers Challengers will clash in one semifinal. T1 Academy, the second-tier team of the reigning World Champions, advanced with a convincing 3-1 victory over North America's Cupid Esports. DN SOOPers Challengers qualified by winning Asia Masters 2026, though their path to the WSCI top four proved less straightforward. Despite defeating T1 Academy 3-1 in Asia Masters, DNS lost to them twice during WSCI group play and also suffered an upset loss to North American team Fuego. They recovered in the quarterfinals with a tense 3-2 victory over fellow Korean team Dplus Kia Challengers.

The tournament structure means the finals will feature at least one representative from France and Korea, guaranteeing either a European or Asian champion for this inaugural competition. The semifinals take place this week before the championship match on October 2nd.
